Hello everyone!

I already have the Flex NR action and it works!!!

I only have one question regarding Lightroom Workflow...when I have the CR2 in LR do I have to execute the two lrtemplates (ISOany-noNR-noSH) and (LR2cal-STD-RIT-SAT125%) at any ISO?

Thanks and Best Regards!!!

Juan

Juan:

1. LR2cal-STD-RIT-SAT125% for ALL ISOs, as it will extract the very best it can from the cam's color response, accurately and vividly.

2. Use ISOany-noNR-noSH for any image/s you would like to properly process with FlexNR, as your consistent/safe starting point.

3. You may also want (later on) Drisley's comments on further fine-tuning of Chroma NR slider on LR (bumping it just a notch higher) if you wish FlexNR to wipe out down to the last trace of chrominance noise on high-ISO images.

Cheers,

PIX

Quick question with regards to the required NeatImage version:

In the instructions it states that Pro+ version is required.... looking on the ordering page on NeatImage's site, it looks like the Pro+ version is only offered in 32bit... the 64bit is call plain 'Pro' (no +). I have Vista 64 and PSCS4 64bit, should I get the NeatImage Pro+ 32bit, or the NeatImage Pro 64?

Again, the NeatImage 64bit version is called 'Pro' not 'Pro+'.... the instructions for FlexNR in this thread call for Pro+

In the context of FlexNR PS/CS requirements, Pro+ == NI's plug-in for PS/CS.

In other words, get the version of NI that (for SURE) has the PS/CS plug-in, because that is all you will need (as your NR core).

The rest of the magic takes place in FlexNR.

Cheers,

Sorry, read only the first and last few pages....but can you please just confirm that FlexNR does NOT work with a Adobe Camera Raw converter workflow?

thanks

NOTE:

FlexNR support LR/ACR's output, not its workflow.

In other words: as soon as you have any give LR/ACR conversion ready (converted with the supplied Preset), you are ready to execute FlexNR on it, within PS/CS (either for one picture, or several ones, if you decide to run in batch). ACR/LR conversions are fully profiled and supported up to ISO6400.

OK, I think I asked my question wrong. I've been reading past posts but clearly I'm coming to the party late.

If I don't have/use LR, but rather Bridge->ACR>CS4, is your Action fully usable by me?

So far, it is clear your effort and results are truly amazing, and I'm ready to go - I hope.

Thanks

Correct.

Once ACR (or LR) output is within PS/CS domain, you are (literally) two (2) mouse clicks away from FlexNR's end result.

Please, read once more all the details provided in my signature link, as they pretty much provide you with what you reall need in terms of compatibility, requirements, ordering, etc.

Cheers,

Youming:

Just another quick follow up, here.

FlexNR-v2.2 is ready, and it is being tested as we speak. Once final testing is complete (external to me), I will announce it, officially.

Good stuff coming in this release (at no charge, of course, to users with valid Serial#).

It comes loaded with good stuff and some key refinements requested by many of you.

Cheers,

PIX

Does FlexNR work well with pics run through ACR (not Lightroom, DPP, or RIT)?

imtrashed, yes... you just select the LR batch of actions for ACR output images (since ACR and LR use the same Raw output engine).

Thanks; that worked (got the Pro 64bit version). :)

I have 3 quick questions:

1. So everything is loaded and I ran a test shot (ISO 1600). I saw a difference between the before and after. But when I tried toggling between the different results (F9, F10, F10), I only saw a difference between the original shot (F9) and the stage 1 (First F10). I couldn't notice a difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2.

2. The way I understand it, hitting F12 wipes up the changes made out of memory, so once F12 is hit, you can't toggle between the differences anymore? - Can someone please confirm this?

3. And last but not least, here is my work flow prior to ever using any type of noise reduction engine: Shoot in RAW --> open file in Adobe Camera RAW --> adjust sharpening (including noise settings - luminance and color noise), and then open the file in PSCS4. Since I am now using an NR process (Neat Image + Flex NR), should I skip the sharpening step I do in ACR? What about the basic sharpening settings one needs to perform when shooting in RAW (since when shooting in RAW, the camera does not apply in-camera sharpening)?

Thank you in advance

Daniel

I'm interested in some workflow tips as well. A tutorial would be great. I have only tried a few ISO 1600 and 3200 images so far, but I haven't seen the knock-your-socks-off results I was hoping for. I think I've gotten better results (less artifacts) from Imagenomic's Noiseware. Still early to tell though. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but there are no real instructions for this. Any help?

Agreed, there are no real instructions. I have not seen the "knock your socks off" results either.
