So I bought a Sigma 24-60 F2.8 off ebay last week. Well the thing front focuses like mad.
My 50d cant compensate enough to get a remotely usable picture out of it.

So its off to the Canadian distributer for Sigma (Gentec International)
I talked to one of the techs on the phone last week, and he seemed to be certain that they can get the lens calibrated in a few days time.

Waiting for new toys to be fixed two days after buying them sucks!
I'll write up a review of them after I get the lens back.

Has anyone here had a Canadian Sigma lens repaired lately?
Or waiting for the repaired lens truck to drive by?

I dropped my cheap Sigma 70-300 late last year, but I decided to have it repaired anyways, as I wasn't ready for a new telephoto yet.

The shop quoted me a turnaround of 4 weeks to have it sent out to them and back, but I had it back in my hands in just under 6 days. It was just as sharp as I remembered it, so I was quite happy with the service and turnaround.

Best of luck with your lens!

I've had an excellent experience with them as well. I bought a used 24-70mm and it had a backfocus problem. Sent it in and they replaced some moving part within a week if I remember correctly. They told me that technically the warranty isn't transferrable, but they repaired it under warranty anyways. It fixed the problem around 24-50mm but still had a problem around 50-70mm, so I sent it in again and this time they replaced some chip or electronic component and now it's just great. I think it focuses even faster now, whereas previously it would jog back and forth looking for that focus lock. I think it's great they have such a good repair facility that isn't afraid to keep the customer happy, it's just too bad they don't do such a good job with QA out of the factory but the repair facility makes up for it and I wouldn't be afraid to buy Sigma again knowing if I have any problems I could easily get it fixed.

Some bodies, some lenses, and that's all I'll list in case the wife sees this. ;)

Having to send it in, twice, suggests that the QC at the repair facility is no better or worse than the factory.

Personally I would be pissed if I sent a lens in and had to resend it. There is no excuse for a repair center, after someone has checked out a lens, to ship it out in less than perfect working order.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
