EDIT: You'll notice there is no #20 (Jeff). I accidently placed his name in the poll and can't seem to change it! My apologies! Also, the preview of the poll showed numbers next to the choices, again sorry! If you find anything else, please let me know.
Thought I'd get this done so we can pick a winner and move on to the next challenge. I'll post a link in the competitions so we can (hopefully) get more voting.

Good luck to all! (images have been placed in random order).

Please vote for your favorite image:

Congratulations to strgazr27!!!

It was neck and neck to the end... Honorable mention to chris.bailey and Troy Piggo!

In my book, all the participants are winners; beautiful images everyone!!

Thanks to everyone for participating.

strgazr27, you have the honors... What will our next target be?

How about a deadline for submission at the end of June?

Thanks again everyone! Great job!

Oh goody! New challenge coming up! :)

Congrats to strgazr27. Very well deserved, I know I voted for yours. Shame there could be only one, as Chris' shot would have been my next choice.

And thanks for keeping things rolling along, Rick. You're a great organiser ;)

Yep the right image won, incredibly detailed, voted for it myself too. Bit surprised that a few of the others didnt pick up a few more, thought JCHAM21's was nice too.

Shot nights here now (cloudy all winter, light all summer) so the next target will be a tricky one.

Well done guys, there were some seriously good photos in that lot...sadly I never got the chance to try my "new" APO out on Orion.

Looking forward to the next target. Don't make it too tricky an object though stargazr. ;)

Got here a bit late. Congrats to the winner.

However, I think that the core of Orion is blown. This seems to be the case in most of the images. Troypiggo's entry does show the centre and can be further worked on to produce some lovely colour.

John

WOW!! Thanks to everyone who voted for me. I have been dealing with a back injury suffered at work foloowed by a possible small stroke so I have not had much time to spend on ANY of the boards. I did manage to pick up my CGE Pro at NEAF this year as well as a brand new Astronomy Technologies AT8RC and TMB 80SS with Carbon Fiber tube. Feathertouches on both :) . I am also trying out a QHY8 CCD camera. I still think I prefer the 40D though :).

As far as a challenge object goes I think it should be just that, a challenge. I have 2 objects in mind that should be doable for most people. You may need to stay up late though to get them. I'm thinking the M8/M20 area. If this is a bit of a stretch at this time of the year than my second choice would be M13. Although easy to shoot it is an object that can be a "Challenge to process correctly. Let me know what you guys think and we'll make a decision from there.

Thanks again to everyone who voted and congrats to everyone who entered!

Thanks John. It's hard to see in the size posted here but the trap is easily visible in quite a few of the images, mine included. It's very difficult to balance getting the core and getting all you can of the faint stuff. A composite image is the only real way to do it and this is a challenge to pull off well.

Thanks again,

Bobby
