Last late afternoon between the rain and no sun. From a den with 6 little ones. Got some playing images but sort of liked this gaze.

MKIII, EF 500 @ 1.4x, 1/320, f/5.6, ISO 1000, E.C.+1, fill flash E.C. -2/3, ground supported.

Been at it myself 30 odd years and still learning ;)

It was -2/3 of a stop flash exposure comp. I needed to add some artificial light to bring out the shadows since the ambient light was dull and pretty much non existent. By dialing the flash down based on experience ( and good guess work ) you can fill in the shadows with out giving the artificial appearance of flash being used and still iluminate your subject as if you had good light to start with.

Ground supported simply means I was lying on my fat belly with the lens on a ant hill.
