I'm surprised how much noise there is in #1. Was it shot with your 40D? My G10 was good. My XS is better and here is my flickr

There really is no rule, but generally, people would rather see the wheels instead of the tread. I had to add some fill light because I was shooting almost directly into the headlights, resulting in a very underexposed image. You have to get off "Auto", & yes, that means Av & Tv, too. These were all kind of quickie shots, with little thought to composition. Anytime you're shooting for "pay", it's not the time for quickie shots? The headlights were on in all 4 because I was actually trying to catch the headlights. You needed to take at least two exposures & blend them. Look at the bottom of Malibu in the snow. FrankC - 20D, RAW, Manual everything...
