My other (possibly primary) hobby is home theater. I have a front projection system and I've always calibrated it myself with test patterns etc. I've never sprung for an ISF tech to actually objectively dial it in with calibration equipment.
I'm wanting to calibrate my monitor now and I notice the Spyder 3 Elite says it handles front projectors. Can anyone who owns this product explain how? Does the projector have to be hooked to a PC? The reason I ask is because that would not be very good because then you're calibrating your VGA input only. Each input and even source could differ. Or, are there test patterns that you could make into a DVD so you could play it back through your entire home theater chain?
