This is a hand made HDR project, but here, I took two different shots, on different days and with different lenses and blended it together. The vantage point of the two shots was essentially the same.

The buildings, taken in daylight earlier today with the 70-200 and the sun set sky taken a couple of nights ago with the 100mm macro.

Its definitely an interesting idea but I find the overall picture a little flat, which I don't like.

Thanks for the feedback!

There actually was a lot of room dynamically to have the foreground building more bright and crisp but I found that it looked far too fake to have that much of a light spread between the two shots so I ended up toning them back a good few steps to make it seem closer to reality. Maybe I went too far?

Cheers!

Perhaps more viable as a black and white?

Cheers!

I absolutley love what you've done in both. I never thought of the idea, but you pulled it off.

The black and white have the same thing for me, I just find it "flat" because you still had to cut the buildings out of the sky.

I'm determined to get a favorable comment out of you so I decided to re-shoot the entire scene, this time just doing a singular shoot with a 400mm focal length to concentrate on what I considered the nicer looking buildings in the original shot so this one will have a portrait orientation instead of the ultra-wide landscape.

Definitely a difficult shot to pull off. Looks weird because the bright light from the sun should be shining between the building and lighting things up. Great effort though!

I really like the effect, especially the B&W.

Is that a Goldendoodle in one of your gallery shots? Looks just like my dog.

Cheers

Thanks for the additional feedback, folks! Much appreciated. ;)

About the dog question; sorry, I don't know what type of dog that is? My girlfriend has 5 different poodles and two cats...a bit of a pet freak really. I just take the pictures of them. I have no pets.

Cheers!
