I'm looking for an alternative to the overpriced Canon remote release cables and came across a few alternatives. Which one should I go with?

Phottix Cleon II (I've read good reviews on this one)
Phottix Plato (can't find any reviews)
POTN shop release found here (external link) (don't know anything about it)

Check www.dealextreme.com (external link) under digital cameras. They have excellent selection of knock-offs, they are a HK-based company. I've gotten deliveries within a week, others say sometimes 6 weeks.

I've used at least one cable release from them without issues, and get lens caps, spirit levels there as well.

The ebay (phottix or equivalent) cable releases work fine. Has I known that POTN sold them at the time, I would have purchased one through the POTN store.

I also bought a wireless shutter release off of ebay and it works just fine.

Phottix Cleon from Ebay. Works great wired and wireless. Only downside was it took about two weeks for delivery from overseas.

When you ordered it did you have to pay any sort of customs fees or anything thats my only worry is they will charge some outrageous fee cause the ones I keep seeing all say free shipping. just checking.

I just ordered the Phottix Plato on Thursday from eteforce (Hong Kong). I wouldn't think there would be any way for them to try and charge any kind of customs fees...but I guess I'll find out in a few days.

I thought that I would let everyone know that the release arrived today. That's only 9 days from the time I ordered including a weekend. That's actually a lot quicker than I thought since it was shipped to the east coast.

The release performs flawlessly. I just tested it and even with it inside our house, I can take the transmitter outside and still trigger the camera.

I'm using a cheapo knockoff from eBay. I don't use it very often, but it works great when I need it.
