Calibration - Worth upgrading ?

I currently use an old version of Monaco EZ for calibrating my screen/printer/scanner. (V 1.52 I *think* ?)

I calibrate simply by eye (changing the RGB values on sliders, in a very similar way to Adobe's own calibration software).

Generally, all is working ok, but a few colours (such as rich golds and oranges) print out a bit too far away from the image on the screen for my liking.

I suspect that the print is actually the more correct one and am wondering whether it is worthwhile spending some money buying new calibration software with a hardware add-on to calibrate the screen correctly.

Any thoughts anyone ?
