Help please ....

Coatsie' wife, Laura here - wonder if anyone could help me?? Took this photo of some work colleagues, who were helping to make a documentary - unfortunately it is out of focus. Not sure what to do and wondered if anyone had any suggestions please??

Not the best photo I have taken (although that's pretty obvious! )

it can be made better, i just put it in PhotoShop and using unsharp mask amount 200% radius 0.3 zero threshold looks better ,other's here know more than me though.

It looks to me like your exposure was too long - the cameraman on the right looks like motion blur to me, the guy in the white shirt could be the same. I don't think it's a depth of field problem because the background and the plaque on the right look ok.

In my opinion, throw the shot away.

Next time use a faster shutter speed. It looks like a camera motion problem rather than focus. I can't see any plane that is in focus.

Use a higher ISO setting and/or a larger aperture.

Flash would also help, but may not be appreciated while someone is trying to video the scene.

That looks pretty shook to me. I reckon the Unsharp mask would make little or no difference to that one.! You could try increasing the contrast slightly with the curves tool, this won't sharpen the image as such but may mask the fuzzyness a bit! Best o luck!

According to the Exif the shutter was at 1/8 which is way too slow and any subject movement or hand shake wil produce the effect you have.

Thanks everyone - when I got back to my office I knew straight away what I had done - but unfortunately didn't double check everything before I took the photo - was 'too busy catching up on gossip at the same time' (as women do!).

And I know it's a lame excuse but I find the 300D so much easier to use than the G6 which I bought to carry in my handbag!

Have to say not the signs of a good photographer !
