Driving home from a birding location I noticed some cars stopping and saw a women and a man flagging people over. Slowing down I saw the baby owl in the road and stopped to help. There I met Becky and Tom if my memory serves me right. Everybody was on the phone trying to get help. One of the places we got a hold of was the Illinois Raptor Center in Decatur and they advised me to get the owl off the road and leave it for the parents that will be near by. We managed to guide it back into the woods where for an hour or so I watched it hop back into the woods. I felt comfortable when I heard the baby owl call for the parents and heard a return call. What an awesome experience!!!

I remember this story and I hope the OP's story ends as well.

Nice pics of a cute little ball of fluff that will grow up to be a formidable Raptor. Good on you.

Cool story and hopefully that little owl stayed out of the road! Glad that people stopped for it and it didn't get run over.

A few summers ago I found a just-fledged flicker in the middle of the road and I put it back in the woods. It kept hopping back out in the road and I kept putting it back further in the woods. Eventually it seemed to stay there, and then the next day I was really worried that I'd see a squished baby flicker in the road! Thankfully I didn't, so I assumed it was ok. No photos though!
