Well here's a very quick portrait I took this evening (handheld, but with a flash) - click through for the full size version.

1/200th, f/5.6, iso 1600

Full size version quite amazing - actually seeing the flash in the eyes and parts of the room reflected in them.

Never judge a person till you walk a mile in their shoes - by then it won't matter. You are a mile away and they have no shoes.

Now if I had that CSI software, I could zoom in and offer some C&C on the photos you have framed on the wall behind you there Dave.....

'Twas that there comet which convinced me to pension off the AE-1 and hop on the steep and slippery DSLR slope. (and the results are in my Picasa album linked below)

YYou get something so much more nice than a CD. If I don't buy the record, I tend to just d/l the album.

Ergh, I never understood the appeal.

Alright, I need two more ideas for what I'm doing for school. I'm popping/throwing/dropping water balloons and shooting them at the same time. Anyone got any ideas for interesting photos of it? I've got 13 ideas so far, most of them are different to the next, so if anyone can think of something unique I might just use it.

Nope, no IS. It's the only current Canon Super-Tele that doesn't. Bit of a bugger, but well at f/5.6 it's a bright sunlight lens anyway, and for birding it'll likely be on a tripod as that involves a lot of sitting around pretending not to be a person anyway.

Thanks for that. Might do a search for similar things tomorrow when I've got time. Your thread should have a few more replies by tomorrow afternoon so I'll have a long read ahead of me :)
