Uni course preferences... All based around media or the arts  First preference is one at Deakin Melbourne because it has photography as a subject.

had to read that twice Al as I thought you were talking about the model and I was going to say its the lens distorting her head and I was going to get a bit upset. :o but you are referring to MY bike so I am going to get very upset.. yes the GSA is a steroid beast.

Sorry Damian. I loved the 1150GSA and the HP2 Enduro but the 1200GS was a stonking motor, fantastic brakes and a bad handler. ;)

I heard a rumour that Canon is about to release a new "Multi Purpose" lens.

Using the same switchable technology that allows their soft-focus lenses to switch from soft-focus to normal, this one will be able to switch from fish-eye to rectilinear, with a zoom of 8mm (yeah, really wide-angle for crop bodies !!) to 800mm using centimagnificication technology, with a fixed aperture of f/1.2

Or did I just dream this ??

800mm on a full frame camera shooting at f/1.2 shooting a subject 100 metres from you would give you a depth of field of 1.1m apparently

News just in:

Canon have finally announced a replacement for the 24-70 f2.8L USM.
Referred to as the 24-70 f0.25L IS AF SSZ SSS, The new lense has Image stabilisaton, Anisotropic (Liquid crystal) Focus, Solid State Zoom and Solid State Shutter. The IS and AF both rely upon the internal reflection of the user's eye and determines automatically what the user is looking for. The lense immediately focusses and stabilises upon the the object of attention. Solid State Zoom also concentrates upon the center of attention, interacting with the IS to maintain a stable image at all times. Pan/tilt tracking is intuitive.

A new feature is SSS, or Solid State Shutter. At the time of exposure, the anisotropic element is rendered opaque, the mirror is locked up, the AE (Anisotropic Element) returns to its previous focus/zoom/IS state and the image is aquired. Naturally, this means that mirror shake is a thing of the past. With the appropriate firmware upgrade, shutter speeds from 2-1/2 minutes to 1/64,000 of a second are now available. Given the german competition, the new lens is known as the "besser" brick.

Update: rumour has it that there will be a 70-200 f1.0L IS AF SSZ SSS WYFTO (What You First Thought Of) model to follow...

About ten minutes. I've been wishing for much longer.

Edit: Some of that is already available.

EditAgain: A lot of that is available, just not from Canon (or Noink - or anyone else)

Pulled out the owners manual tonight for my D2000 and found 2 cool things:

1. It has an inbuilt actuation counter that records number taken since manufacture and cant be reset - mine has only 45,371 on it

2. It does have a game in it - "pong" - and it works :cool::lol:

That is awesome! About the actuation counter though, is there a reason why Canon and Nikon chose not to display the count in-camera? Having to send it to Canon or DIY through some proprietary software (which doesn't work with all models) is a pita.
