Too right. They've got the 7D and the 5D2 and both are very capable cameras in the hands of a pro. I'm no good at predicting what'll be in the next 1-series bodies but a lot of people will hang on to or buy an older 1-series or buy a new 7D or 5D2 rather than jump up to a 1Ds4 or 1D4 because I can't see much happening there. Even better high ISO performance, more MP in the 1D4, what else? More FPS?

For reasons covering tax, finances and simply being on top of your game in producing the best you can it will still make sense to upgrade to a 1 series for a lot of owners.

Well the 70-200/2.8 covers both those focal lengths ;-)a

Mind you, I've noticed I shoot a lot at 135mm, so that's put that lens on the radar for me at some stage (probably after the 85/1.2L, 35/1.4L and TS-E 17).

The 200 1.8 or the 2.0?

That 1.8 would be a fun bit of kit to use.

I was looking at the 200/2.8L or the 135L

With all that stuck in there, what's the point of having a 1 series??!?!

19 AF points doesn't mean it'll have all the features, or as strong as a 1D AF system.

The 7D does however look to be a very nice piece of kit. :D

I thought there was only a 200/2.8 as well ???

I am also kind of lost in Canon's decision on the 7D. Why :(... If it somehow drives 1D prices down, I'll be happy :)

No longer - it's pretty old, and no longer suported by Canon, IIRC.

Can't see that happening, it's pretty different.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Non IS but the fastest 200mm out there....if you can find one.

I think the 2.0 replaced it

Canon wouldn't really be too close on pushing the boundaries of their professional range.

As a serious hobbyist you'd be very happy with it, as a pro shooter, I think you'd be let down with the 7D.

Obviously not speaking only from my opinion/sensible marketing point of view.

Ps. Since when does Vinnies close at 4:30. :( I wanted to see if I could pick up a cheap lens.

That it did. You'd be paying BIG $$$ if you wanted a 1.8 these days.

Go the 200/2L IS ;) Only US$6K from memory. BARGAIN!

Hmmm, sitting on your bum with that 1.8 or 2.0 mounted to a splayed out tripod down a corridor shooting portraits.
