Greetings everyone. Crazy-busy weekend for me.

Went to the tulips for a bit today with a friend and her niece.

Waddya think?

Holy cuteness overload! Great shot!

Sorry:o I didn't realize the mention of the disgusting things would give you nightmares. I'll not mention them again. It was the purse post that drew me in.

No worries. I've made my peace. That being said....my feet are currently off the ground.

I was going to ask what the focus problem was. Focus, except when working with shallow DOF, is usually the easy part with modern AF cameras. The macro explains it and I am guessing you used that because you needed a wide aperture for low light? The 100mm macro is a GREAT macro lens. There is lots posted about it being good for this and that, it isn't:-| Obviously my opinion but other than being sharp and 2.8 it has not much to offer in the AF department. I most often use it in MF for macro stuff.

I have used it for portraits and really like it. But, it can take a while to focus which is annoying. But, I've been happy with the results.

my gosh she's cute. Mom (or Aunt) did a great job picking the outfit.

She was way more interested in getting to the rides and stuff than taking pictures, but she did great. She tells everyone that I'm her personal photographer. :)

She did a couple of wardrobe changes. Field dressing with a blanket. :)

Night Robert and Becky.

And for the record (yet I'm probably the only fool who didn't know this) the 100mm macro does NOT make a good horse show lens. Quality is excellent....the wide aperture is terrific....slow focus?? Yeah. I'm tossing more shots than I'm keeping. I'm wide open to suggestions within my gear list...remember that I'm currently saving toward a 24-70L, and a 70-200 f2.8 will probably be on the list after that and a few other things.

As Zane said the 100 is ridiculously sharp but the autofocus couldn't keep up with a snail. Di you are headed in the right direction. The 70-200f2.8 is probably the best lens for most sporting events that need moderate zoom. Otherwise your choices are several primes that will cost you a lot more in the long run. Although it is hard to argue with having a 135L and a 200/2.8L.

Thanks Mike! I brought out the strobe of all strobes for this shoot. Just natural light on all of these...left the flash at home like an idiot!
