If you want more general technique than specifics, I would highly recommend Light: Science and Magic (external link).

Yep.. I'm reading The Moment It Clicks (external link) now and thoroughly enjoying it. HSD is brand new and got TONS of rave reviews from all sorts of bloggers I read. It's sitting on my kitchen table, waiting for me to finish TMIC.

I would get Light, Science and Magic and the hot shoe dairies, the HSD is a great book for ideas and very easy to read. (Even though it has a heavy nikon bias)

All the books mentioned above are fantasic resources. The Strobist website, Strobist DVD's, and the OneLight DVD's are all invaluable as well.

This is a very easy read. I read the entire book in a few days. Very good source of info. It's based ENTIRELY on Nikon equipment, but it doesn't get too technical, so it's easy to ignore.
