"Tamron 1.4x Teleconverter in Nikon AF Mount $49.95 Helix Camera has the Tamron 1.4x AF Teleconverter in a Nikon mount for $49.95.

For the price, this is an inexpensive and lightweight way to have a slightly longer lens. The focal length is extended by 1.4x and the lens would be 1 f-stop slower. It's not compatible with Nikon's D40, D40x or D60 since those models don't work with the screw-type AF. I checked Tamron's site and they only show the Canon mount as current, so this is likely a discontinued version. The Canon mount of the Tamron 1.4x converter sells for $120-129 at various online merchants and the Nikon 1.4x converter sells for $400-450.
Their site also states: "Though using a teleconverter on wide-angle lenses is never really recommended, these converters can be used with lenses that are wider than 90mm and are ideal for all lenses that are not F/2.8's."

Update:
I gave them a call and they said that they had about 40 in stock. So my guess is that they'll probably run out of stock on this. "
