Are you referring to the back panel LEDs or the AF-assist LEDs being SMD? THe back panel is SMD.

Also be aware if anyone attempts this, there is still high voltage stored in the capacitors EVEN WHEN THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED!! I've given myself a bit of a shock a few times. :oops:

AF Assist. There is no PCB though, so I don't know if you would call them surface mount. My bad if I got the wrong term. They aren't 5mm LEDs (with the dome) though.

Thanks for the warning. I was trying to keep fingers away from the cap - am too aware of what happens when you accidentally bridge the contacts :p
