Just got it in today in the mail and tried it out on my newly purchased XSi . Works just as discribed . I did not know that using the "Bulb" setting in manual mode that it works just great also since i do some astrrophotography . Set camera to "Manual" , Bulb Setting , trip the sutter with the RC-1 and when your finished exposing then trip the shutter button again to stop the exposure . Great help ! When in an Auto mode it also focuses the camera and after about 5 shots i checked for focus and all seem to be very acceptable in focus . Got it from www.amazon.com (external link) for $18.99 and it included a free cheap cleaning kit which is about the same as the clean kit i bought from BestBuy :) . Guess it was ok for the $$ . Do alot of you here use the RC-1 Remote ??

I have one because I thought I would use it a lot. It turned out I only used it for less than 10 times after a year.

I bought one yesterday, and it works fine. The only reservation I have is the 2 second delay, does anyone know if that can be eliminated or reduced in some obscure menu I am not aware of?

It's an excellent value for the Rebel series--I just wish it worked on the 50D as well! I use a RC-1 regularly on my XTi for long-exposure infrared imaging as well as occasional astrophotography attempts. It's also handy for family shots on vacation.

A great value. I can't see why every Rebel owner wouldn't have one.

Take off the strap holder by pushing the red button and inside is a switch to switch between 2 sec delay (2 position) and immediate shutter release (L position). Dunno what the hell L stands for.

The RC-1 was the first remote I bought for the 300D. Then I bought the wireless remote a few days later and the RC-1 disappeared in the bag. It's a great backup but compared to the wireless remote it just wasn't worth the effort to dig it out of my bag...

The timer remotes are pretty convenient too.

Jon.

If you look at the EOS System sheet that came with you camera you will see all the accessories and gizmos that work with you camera. Not all gizmos work with all cameras.

I considered getting one of those. I got the RS-60E3 (external link) instead to use when I'm doing tripod shots. I figured it would be more useful to maintain the half-press/full-press shutter button functionality without having to touch the camera body that it would to be able to be in the frame myself and take the picture. It's been useful thus far.

We ordered them from E-Bay. I think it was $47.00 including shipping. They ship from Hong Kong so it taked a couple of weeks to show up.

AW YES ! I have one of these also i used with my 300D . Works great still but i just like the convience of not worrying about the remote swinging loose sometimes when i was doing astrophotography work .
