It's an excellent value for the Rebel series--I just wish it worked on the 50D as well! I use a RC-1 regularly on my XTi for long-exposure infrared imaging as well as occasional astrophotography attempts. It's also handy for family shots on vacation.

A great value. I can't see why every Rebel owner wouldn't have one.

from my recent research it does work with the 50d

Take off the strap holder by pushing the red button and inside is a switch to switch between 2 sec delay (2 position) and immediate shutter release (L position). Dunno what the hell L stands for.

Hmm mine has three positions 2 sec, immediate and L (locked) so you don't drain you battery if something is pressing on the button

I've had mine for about twenty years. I bought it for my EOS 10s and was still able to use it when I bought the Rebel Xt but not able to use it with the 40D. I really miss using it. I did buy a remote off Ebay that works very well with the 40D.

Mine also says L , immediate , 2-sec . I use 2 secs , works just fine .
