Honestly, I'm dying to get out and shoot some nature. I really want to go up to Jeremy's neck of the woods...

Jeremy, can you make a hike that would be suitable for everyone that includes greeen-ness and water? Maybe some big rocks too?

Horton Creek is an awesome hike with awesome scenery! And, it's a real easy/nice/simple hike. Horton Creek (external link)

The water is a little low right now, but we did just get some rain this week, so it might raise a little. Plus, in September, the weather should be just about perfect... but for you Valley folk... it might be a tad cold. ;)

...but I did find this little guy in my parents back yard while taking care of thier house! A little jumping spider with what I believe is a Long Legged fly.

Dude... that's creepy! lol But a very nice shot. :)

Hey, didn't Jeremy get a macro lens recently? aren't there any bugs on those hikes you take to get those other landscape shots?

I did, for Christmas last year. I really haven't used that lens as much as I should.... lol Oh well. :p

Thanks Hatch and Jake.
btw, does that light leading towards the guitar bother anyone? It was a streak that came from my flash being closely pointed towards my lens so I got that bit of a streak.
Hatch - I heard that movie is amazing. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it as well.

Ok, one more shot of the brother. They've been practicing like crazy lately (cause they have a show coming up this friday) so I was able to come in to a few practices to be able to snap a couple shots. Anyways, this one I did a little spot color selection of my bro and b/w the rest.

Inglourious Basterds

I give it a B+

I think it was a little long and there should have been more killing. Looking back over the movie... it had some great scenes. Worth the trip to the movies to see.

What was surprising was the over 75 crowd that was there. I couldn't figure it out... one lady said she was excited to see Brad Pitt.... all I could think of is she didn't know what she was getting in to. LOL But... no one left.

To me... it was a big dream of what could have been ... on some level.

I liked it. :)

Hey Everyone, long time lurker, rare poster. I went out to Bowie on an impromptu trip with a friend this weekend and shot some stuff. I really wasn't feeling particularly creative while shooting, but I still managed to get some stuff that I think turned out pretty well in post and wanted to share.

The town reminds me of Radiator Springs from the movie Cars. There was hardly anyone around and those that we saw seemed to watch us with some curiosity. We found a strange little building at the side of the road, probably 30'x15', that looks like it was some sort of a jail at one time. Only 2 cells and nowhere for anyone else, like a Sherrif, to be. One door was welded shut and the other had a padlock. Makes you sort of wonder...

We also spent some time shooting trains while a couple of folks stared at us from under a tree across the way. It was a but unnerving, so I stayed where I could see them and shot the trains from the outside while my buddy did some shots from between the rows of cars.

After that we spend some time shooting an abandoned hotel and another little house that a tree fell through. We goofed around with lighting the house until a while after dark, but weren't bothered by anyone. We did have a few people drive around us slowly a few times, but no one said anything.

The mood of the place strongly influenced my post work.

Then on the way home we spotted a house fire up in the mountains and made a detour, 70-200/2.8's in hand and walked right up to where the firetrucks were with almost no problem. The fire was going out already, but we got some decent shots, all handheld. The fire was a 4000+ sq/ft house a guy had been building for years. It was unoccupied.

The gallery is at http://www.gilaphotos.com/misc/bowie2/ (external link) if you want to see the whole series.
