If anyone is interested in getting a crack at shooting some truly classic aircraft, the Collings Foundation will be back in Arizona in April with their B-17G, B-24 and P-51C...

Hopefully they'll get enough riders to fly at each location. In any event, you can walk out to and around each aircraft as well as tour the interiors. IIRC, they get somewhere between $5 and $15 to do so at each stop.

4/16 - 4/19 .. Scottsdale
4/19 - 4/21 .. Deer Valley
4/21 - 4/23 .. Phoenix - Gateway (Best Location of the four IMO)
4/23 - 4/26 .. Tucson

What exactly is a "rider"?

Regardless, I would like to check this out.

and the "fry Dean's back tire" underground event?

Dean, you do burnouts on your motorcycles? You hooligan! I have never done such a thing! Well, maybe once or a dozen times.

ETA: Very sad day down my way. P-51D Mustang crashed at Stellar Airpark killing the pilot.

Yup. Just saw that. Horrible.

By some crazy chance, I also watched a car just depart the roadway at 101 and 50 today and slam into the concrete barrier. WTF?

OK kids, which memory cards do I want for my new 7D I am ordering tonight?

Also, suggestions on a wide lens for landscapes. I have none at the moment. (Remember the 1.6 crop. I am thinking the 10-22 EF-S)

Also, a nice carbon tripod and head. My Manfrotto I have now is very nice, but it's not backpack small, or backpack light.

Maybe a Speedlite also. Which one?

Yeah, an unexpected check showed up in the mail today, and I'm burning it up at B&H.

And a correction on the Collings Foundation "Tucson" stop.

They'll actually be at Marana and not Tucson International.

I'm told Marana is very photographer friendly when something special like Collings is in town so this might be a good locale for our Tucson members.

I don't do it too often - tires are expensive!

I wanted to recreate this shot, but we need to find some place where I won't get arrested. :)

Just found out that one of my photos will be used in an ad in a (what many consider 'the') national motorcycle roadracing magazine. WOOT!

Those Warriors are good bikes.

I'm looking at a BMW R1150RT or R1200RT to park next to my Hayabusa and KTM 640 Adv.

I want a long haul bike for the wife and I.

S.C.

Scott,

The RT, whether 1150 or 1200 is the perfect long haul bike. If you can find one, a later 1200RT might have ESA (electronic stability assistance) besides ABS and even cruise control.

I have been riding BMWs for years, I have a different kind of R1200, and I have used it for long hauls too:

Cool, and I've been curious about Marana for a while now. Getting in there and poking around sounds like a great time.

It's also an excuse to get a Sonoran hot dog while I'm in the area.

Sweet.

Which pic?

Is that link just a generic one, or is the front page yours?

Real sweet bike, Blue-J.

I don't need lights and bells. I've been riding for 40 years. ABS or any of that other stuff is nice, but fluff to me. That aside, I'm not shunning it. I understand that along with BMW ownership comes many gadgets and gizmos.

You should always save your burnouts for the night before you put on new rubber. That is how I have always done it. Why waste good rubber?

Here's a pic of me on my old Softail from 2001.

This pic appeared in the March, 2001 issue of Hot Bike. I did a shoot for them on a front end mod that netted me a ton of free billet goodies for my bike.

That's just a generic link. The photo will be one from this set: http://www.flickr.com …z/sets/72157614594005587/ (external link)

Not sure which one he picked. It will be part of a full page ad for USGPRU.

Blue-J - thanks! That's a beautiful bike!

That's what I do as well. I have new rubber waiting to be mounted, so I can burn up the rest of this Maxxis with gusto.
