That's just a generic link. The photo will be one from this set: http://www.flickr.com …z/sets/72157614594005587/ (external link)

Not sure which one he picked. It will be part of a full page ad for USGPRU.

Cool.

That's what I do as well. I have new rubber waiting to be mounted, so I can burn up the rest of this Maxxis with gusto.

I have a changer and balancer at my place if you need an excuse to get out to Wickenburg with your bike and camera.

I am not qualified to comment on Canon gear choices :)

I have the Manfrotto 055XB Pro/486RC2, and would love to have it in CF. If you want smaller, maybe the 190CXPRO3 (external link)?

Money no object? I like the Gitzo CF. http://www.bhphotovideo.com …T_Traveler_6X_Carbon.html (external link)

This new ballhead by Arca Swiss is kick ass, but spendy: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ball_P0_with_Panning.html (external link)
This Acratech ballhead is also uber cool: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_Ballhead_with_Quick.html (external link)

I quit making gear suggestions after about the 10th time someone came back **** and moaning after buying something other than what the majority had originally suggested.

By and large, people here are adults capable of doing their own research and balancing the specs/price against their needs/wallets.

I'm more than happy to give feedback on something if I personally use it but blind reccomendations? Nope, not any more...

Just a couple casual shots I got yesterday with my P&S out by Lake Pleasant, as I was on my way in to Phoenix to look at another motorcycle I may buy.

while you're at it can you buy me a bike too :-) anything cheap but at least 500cc is fine :-D

What kind of bike are you buying? I just picked up a Yamaha Warrior last month and loving every mile I put on it.

Hi all. Jay referred me to this forum awhile back, so instead of lurking I thought I would introduce myself...

My name is Bob. I've had my DSLR for a few months now and I am learning as much as I can from POTN. I still have a lot to learn though, and I'm really enjoying it.

The images I have seen from you folks are great and I can only hope to do as well
some day. My photography interests are pretty general right now. I do like photographing landcapes, machines (cars, bikes), and I really want to get more into OCF and portraiture.

I've got some time off coming up this week as my son will be on spring break and I hope to be doing some more shooting.

I hope to join one of your outings soon. Perhaps for shooting the wildflowers.

welcome! there are quite a few places to photograph cars as well as this weekend at the DUB show which I just found out I will be attending. fun stuff

Scott,

The RT, whether 1150 or 1200 is the perfect long haul bike. If you can find one, a later 1200RT might have ESA (electronic stability assistance) besides ABS and even cruise control.

I have been riding BMWs for years, I have a different kind of R1200, and I have used it for long hauls too:

OK kids, which memory cards do I want for my new 7D I am ordering tonight?

Also, suggestions on a wide lens for landscapes. I have none at the moment. (Remember the 1.6 crop. I am thinking the 10-22 EF-S)

Also, a nice carbon tripod and head. My Manfrotto I have now is very nice, but it's not backpack small, or backpack light.

Maybe a Speedlite also. Which one?

Yeah, an unexpected check showed up in the mail today, and I'm burning it up at B&H.

S.C.

If you can find the first versions of the 580ex or 430ex flashes you can get them for a decent deal. still work well, just doesn't have the weather sealing if you want that. I still even use a 420ex flash and wouldn't mind getting more of those.

Yeah, why to we let this Nikon user hang around here anyway? :p

Too big folded. This needs to go on my Tamrac back pack, so I'm looking for a folded length of less than that. The tripod doesn't have to be badass. It's for those times I take my gear on the KTM out to the middle of nowhere on occasion.

Nice, but I've already burned up the money I had budgeted, and then some. I may now wait on the tripod until I can spend more money without the check book wincing.

Understood.

And I'm betting you don't use the 10-22 EF-S.

That seems to be the only lens that would fill the gap in my lens lineup. as far as EF-DS lenses go, I have the cheapo 18-55 kit lens amd the 28-135 kit lens. In regular EF lenses, I have the 85mm F/1.8, a 100-300 which I never use, the 70-200 F/2.8L IS, and the 400mm F.5.6L.

From looking at that list the lack of a decent quality wide lens is apparent.

Don't know if you're opposed to third party lenses, but I am very happy with my Sigma 10-20. Very sharp and nice colors. 10mm is lots of fun! best part is I picked mine up for about $400 used.

Here's a few:

why don't you use the 100-300? I thought about picking it up since it's cheap and just use it for some shots around the zoo. it's longer than my 200 so I would hope to get some decent closeups

From Facebook....

onOne Software is releasing free versions of PhotoTools 2.5 and PhotoFrame 4.5. These are great plug-ins, and the Free versions don't have a time limit or watermark—they're fully functional. What a great way to give customers a taste of onOne products. Check out onOne Exchange and onOne University on the same site page, too.

Dean, I have thought about trying other brand lenses, but I haven't had the courage yet. And I PM'd you my cell #.

Ryan, it's not a bad lens, but having that 70-200 L glass makes it tough to want to toss on the 100-300 when the former reaches fairly well in most cases.
