Great shots Jay! Way to go outside of your comfort zone. :) They look nice. And I agree with everything. ;) lol

Great shots Hatch! As always, your macro shots disgust me. :)

Great shots everyone else... and stuff... lol. I'm waiting on spring up here, I think it's close though. A beautiful 60 degrees today. :)

Need some help. I am ready to get serious about the business of photography and I think I will form a LCC. Is that good, bad? Opinions? Also I am thinking of registering my business name with the trade mark office. What do you have set up as a business? Anything specific to AZ I should know?
Do you carry liability insurance? For equipment and liability insurance, who do you recommend?

Also I am looking for a good accountant, lawyer, any recommendations in the east valley? My bank (Chase) offered some help with the LLC set up. Is that good?

I know, that there are a lot of questions, but I guess you guys should know this, I mean you are in this business. :-)

All the information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'd start here:

Actually, I'd start by reading this book; "Best Business Practices for Photographers - 2nd edition" (external link)

I think Jay has a copy and he may also recommend it.

Michael - I am doing the same thing. I used LegalZoom.com for my LLC. Fill out some forms online and they take care of the rest. I'll let you know how it all pans out.

Thanks for the references Scott and Doug. I'll have to check those out.

How do you file for TPT in Arizona, is that done when you get the LLC or is it separate?

I don't know what that is. :) But I have the impression that Legal Zoom takes care of everything when you use their service.

Cool indeed.!!

Why not just a DBA? I wouldn't think theres that much liability, and I don't think the LLC would protect 100% sole proprietorship.

Just a thought. I don't really know much about the subject, but my wife handles everything related to business transactions and accounting. Seems to have worked well so far over the years.
