Did anyone make it out to the Volleyball Festival this week in the Phoenix Convention Center? (Last day is Saturday, July 3rd.)

I have Canon gear. SX1 IS, two 7D bodies and mostly f/2.8 lenses 10mm-200mm, doubler, and 17/4 TSE, some 580EX IIs. Additional portable lighting gear, and tripod with 360 pano mount. Want two 7D II bodies.

Hatch

Thanks everyone.

I think it's just "OK" and didn't really come out like I had hoped. I saw some really cool clouds in the sky making for some really nice sunset texture on Wed. but wasn't lucky enough to get any clouds to hang around long enough for a Fri. night shot.

I tried a little bit of HDR merge but that (trying to merge a few 100 mb files) caused CS3 to crash and I wasn't that pleased with the results to continue and try it over again. So what you have is two images merged with layer masks and some simple editing . . .

Not my best work, and I didn't really put that much time into it, but I guess it's OK.

Thanks again for the positive feedback. I wanted the sky to look like this:

Sold a couple large-ish prints off Zenfolio from that Warbird Fly In up at Valle.

Pays for the gas I burned so I guess that day is now a push!

Thanks!

We're doing the Chandler fireworks tomorrow night but rather than fight the crowds at Tumbleweed Park, we go over along the Airport access road to the east and watch from over the Dairy Farm.

Boom .. Oooooh .. Aaaaah .. Mooooo!

Are you going to try and snap some pictures from there Jay? If so, do you think a 70-200 on my 7D would get me close enough?

Yeah, I'm taking some gear.

I'll probably shoot MkIII + 70-200 or else use my 135 and crop slightly if need be. The ones from Disney were actually 5D + 24-70 but it felt as if we were closer than will be the case shooting from CHD toward Tumbleweed. May need to take both and experiment.

The foreground from there isn't very good though (too many trees) so in the past I've tried to concentrate more on the actual bursts than the entire "scene."
