Thanks Scott. I'm planning on going to Cannery Row at least one night. Very nice shot!!

I wish you the best with your hip surgery.

Cannery Row will be a zoo on Saturday night.

Re: The hip. Thanks. Can't wait to be able to knock out some miles on foot again. I have some photo hikes planned.

Here are two more. I didn't do any PP just straight from the camera other than resizing and compressing for posting.

Does anyone have any Paul Buff Cybersyncs for sale by chance? I need a receiver or two ASAP. If you have some for sale please let me know. I'll pick them up today or tomorrow. Need an extra receiver for Saturdays wedding i'm shooting.

I had sold my 20D about 7 months ago and recently sold my 40D. I had been without a DSLR and only had been shooting with my G9. I had to make an unexpected trip to see my mom up in Washington.

A few things fell into place so it must have been meant to be. I had just got a letter in the mail that Bestbuy was raising my credit limit. Then I had a coupon for 10% off and they were also offering 36 months no interest financing. I also was flying in to Portland Oregon where they have no sales tax. I ended up picking up the 5D Mark ii for $2250.00 out the door.

It was a tough decision because I was really liking the speed of the 7D but I have wanted to go full frame for a long time. I have no regrets.
BTW Lens was a 24-70L.

Great pickup! I just purchased my 7D back in April on a similar 36 month no interest financing option as well. I wish I would have had a 10% coupon available at the time, unfortunately I didn't so I had to pay normal price. Canon did have an instant $100 rebate. I think i paid like $1980 out the door for my 7D with the kit 28-135 lens. I wanted the body only but they didn't have any bodies available. I'll own a FF camera within the next 3yrs i'm hoping. Probably going to wait for the 5dM3 to come out and get that when available. Regardless, great camera and great lens and great buy at BEST BUY.

Horseshoe Bend is very cool but be warned, the walk back out is 5X more strenuous than the walk in!

Hope your tour is between 10am and 2pm for best light shafts. Upper or Lower?

Thanks Jay, yes because the Photo tour is booked, I am taking 2 tours, 1 at 9:30 and the other at 11:30..

As per their site........ (external link)

Tour #1 Upper Antelope Canyon

Come with your guide to a spectacular petrified sand dune, created by wind, water and sand, presenting a sculptured masterpiece. Nothing can describe this work of Mother Nature. Experiencing this beauty will leave you breathless.

Trips are approximately 1 1/2 hours long and you will travel in comfort in a 4-wheel drive vehicle to the Canyon entrance. From there, you walk into the Canyon , you will be at the bottom of the Canyon looking up 130 feet to the top. There is no hiking or climbing involved, only easy walking on the Canyon floor which is level for the most part. You will have up to 50 minutes to explore, photograph or enjoy the beauty. Then, you will return to the vehicle and return to Page

So Friday I plan on going straight from here to monument valley (perhaps the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park Visitor Center?)

On the way home I should be able to hit horseshoe bend. I started out to hike down the path while I was there over the winter, but because it was getting dark decided to turn around. How long would you say it takes round trip? It doesn't seem like it's too long of a hike. I'm going to bring my RC setups as well, so if it's not too windy I should be able to get some interesting aerials as well..

Is the upper tour the one I want?

Thanks..

The morning tour should allow for some nice subtle colors. The mid-day tour will be your "money shot" time. I'm sure your guide will do the sand toss to give you light shafts and flowing sand off shelves. Cool stuff.

So Friday I plan on going straight from here to monument valley (perhaps the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park Visitor Center?)

Garmin software shows nearly two hours from Page to Mexican Hat. Distances up there are very deceiving so watch your fatigue level and stay hydrated! ;)

On the way home I should be able to hit horseshoe bend.

Another two hours back from Mexican Hat. IMO, too optimistic to do it all in one day. YMMV...

I started out to hike down the path while I was there over the winter, but because it was getting dark decided to turn around. How long would you say it takes round trip? It doesn't seem like it's too long of a hike. I'm going to bring my RC setups as well, so if it's not too windy I should be able to get some interesting aerials as well...

Google Earth figures it to be 1/2 mile from the parking area to the rim of the chasm. It's 1/4 uphill and 3/4 downhill walking in on loose and and rocks so you do the conversion for waking back out. ;) The R/C rig sounds great but...well, none of my business. Hope it all works great for ya.

Is the upper tour the one I want?

I did Lower when I was up there in 2007 and they actually gave me a four-hour un-guided "Photographer's Pass." Didn't ask for one but they hung it on me (after I paid) led me to the ladder and said have fun. The lowest parts were still quicksand muddy from earlier rain so I'd say I got to see about 2/3 of the total Lower Antelope. I'm told the best tours are the private tours of "Canyon X" which is deeper in on Indian land and off limits without a guide.

Any way you slice it, you'll have a great time. It's flippin' gorgeous up there!
