Hatch - Your portraits are exceptional. That boy is so cute! Kudos to you and Kristy.
Great shots from PIR! Doug, your two shots really are knock outs.
AP - your portrait session looks really good IMHO. The suggestions put out by our fellow POTNrs should help. I know I would be proud of this set.
Jay - your Air to Air shots are awesome. Love the perspective and #4 is my favorite.
Kristy, love the portrait of the new kiddo.

Took my new flash out (Lumopro LP-160) for some test shots. I made a couple of snoots out of cereal boxes and wanted to try them out as well. Let me know what you think...

#1 - Single snooted flash, camera right. Desaturated a bit in PP.

#2 - Added back light (snooted flash from behind)

#3 - Added 1/2 CTO gel to back light.

Let me know which one you like and/or suggestions for improvment. Thanks!

Those are great car shots, Doug! If I was that guy holding the flag, I would want that shot! Fantastic composition and even the flare looks like it belongs. Great stuff!

Thanks guys. If you press the shutter button enough times, at some point even a guy like me is bound to get lucky every now and again.

My zooms are up for sale: 70-200mm F4 IS and 24-105mm F4 IS. Better prices for locals. PM me.

I like this one the most. the rim light is nice... maybe the position of the snoot could have been a little higher to get all of your hair? Other than that.. I think it's a nice shot. The gel wasn't doing it for me... but... if you like it. :) Position of the main.. maybe a little more to your right... when I look at the image... my eye goes to the brightest part of the image... just under the nose... could just be the position of your head? Really minor... nice capture.

As I have mentioned to Rick... I do like zooms... I would still own them if I felt comfortable about them hitting the mark through the zoom range. I just didn't... and I sold them off for the primes. I now know... when I miss a shot... it's because of me and not because of the lens. I also think my compositions have improved some... since you zoom with your feet... you see different angles to try...

So...once these sell... what is on the short list to purchase?

Nice combos....I've been following the Sigma as well... lots of very nice images being produced with it... looks on par with the 85L for 1/2 the price...

I like this one, but maybe tone down the warmth a teensy bit.... The warm tones make it feel like a soft glow... I'd try sofen or eliminate the highlight on the elbow though..... just my 2-cents.... :D

Thanks... he's pretty cute although he did cry for a little while.. and whenever someone else cried, he decieded he needed to cry too. Needless to say, my day yesterday was a bit hectic... lol...

couple more... great eyes! :) I know the background is busy.. but, hey.. it's what you get when you have a handful of little ones running around the playroom.... pretty much take what you get, and call it journalism... lol.. HAPPY TUESDAY! :)
