I like the second picture better than the first, and though you can't do anything about the pole, in the first, I feel that cropping it would have left too much of the background atmosphere out, so don't feel bad about the pole! On a whole new level, the atmosphere is just as great in the second photo without the extra background, but the boys actions more than make up for it. It reminds me of when I was a kid growing up in an industrial sort of setting. Because of the feeling these invoked makes them great photos!
