You are going about this very wrong. The shutter speed on the night shots was 1/25" and 1/13" on the daylight shots.

As a result each shot is less sharp than it could be.
Instead of Using Shutter Priority (Tv mode), you should set it for Aperture Priority with large aperture (such as f/4 instead of f/29) and hope that you get a quick enough shutter speed, such as 1/500".

As you can see, the EXIF portion of a JPG image file has room for lots of goodies.
However, some programs remove the EXIF data when doing a "Save for Web".

not too bad. i do this quite often as well on the side of the road.
however, if you are to use a fast shutter speed of say 1/500 like mentioned above wouldnt the photo come out looking like you froze time and lack the blurred background giving the illusion of movement?

Oooo that might be handy sometimes. Any idea which programs do that?

I have a Canon Rebel XSi with the kit lens. I also have a cell phone camera that I am using in an exploration of the artistic possibilities of photography limited by extremely low quality equipment. If you have an old cell phone with a camera in working condition, and would like to contribute it to this project I'd be more than happy to accept such a gift.

That's what I was thinking. I could see that you would have a shallow depth of field and therefore possibly an interesting image, but as you say I would expect litle or no motion blur.

All versions of Photoshop, so far as I know.

Hmmm. The Challenger might be a cool shot, IF the entire care was in the frame. I'm not really liking the cut off cars. Just look like snaps to me.

Just the humble musings of a beginner...

1/500 is going to be pretty fast for panning. Try 1/250 and work your way down. You want to get a sharp shot but not freeze all the motion. 1/500 your going to start losing most of the motion in the background and even the wheels will start to freeze.
