Well its been awhile since Ive posted anything car related. I had this shoot a few days ago with a C63 AMG, in which I wanted to try and produce some "commercial" images for my portfolio. Everything I shoot tends to be editorial and tuner related. I hardly ever get the chance to shoot a worthy stock car for that commercial look. I did some posting on some forums and found a super nice guy, willing to loan a few hours of his time and let me shoot his car. I called my buddy up who is a pilot and asked him if I could get access to his hangar. The shoot went well, but I at first did not think many of the images I took had that commercial look. Editorial photography has screwed me up, in that I have lost all creativity and shoot purely procedurally. Front 3/4, rear 3/4, yada yada yada. I never look for the angles I used too when I was first starting out because I didn't know what was right and wrong. Anyways, after editing a bit, I realized I'm pretty happy with the set.

I realize all are front shots. I took two rear shots. A rig and a wide shot of the C63 looking into the hangar. I don't like the angle on the rig and I'm having trouble editing out the distracting minutia of the other one.

Something a bit more graphic. I'll be posting up a behind the scene look at this shot on my blog in a couple of hours. Check it out.

I like the last two shots the most. Awesome car, wish it could have been a different colour though.

Shame it's such an inexpensive and slow car! ;) Great shots!

These are pretty good, except you've fallen into loose editorial framing in some & left room for an AD to add text, like #4. I like the framing in the last one, though.

I'd take out the scaffolding in #2.

I just prefer to let the car breathe. The environment can help tell the story of the car. In this case, we have a luxury sedan and it made sense to shoot in a private airport because people associate this car with successful businessmen. I also like in that shot how the sunset leads your eye right to the car. I suppose its tomato/tomato, but I think we just differ in approach.
