Hi all,

Took the 40D + 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM IS to my local ANZAC Day (external link) march and captured the following. For the fellow Novacastrians, these were shot from the cnr of King & Darby streets and in Civic park.

Any C&C appreciated :D ...

Beautiful pictures
War is Hell.
I'm not sure where we would be without the sacrifices of my parents generation (my mom is 84, my dad would be 86, he was in 3 wars).

I see these images and I thank God that brave men and women sacrificed so much that we could live in the lap of luxury today.

Really nice images. Makes one stop and be thankful for the generation before us that gave so much.

Thank you!

Great series.

I missed the march in Brissie this year but will be there next year.

Lest we forget.

Thanks all ...

I really like #3; his facial expression says it all.

Also, who thinks the gentleman four back from the front in photo #7 [he has glasses on; pretty much in the centre of the photo] looks like Dr Mark Greene from ER?

cheers

Great series... the only thing I would watch out for is the vignetting in #4 unless you're trying to get the viewer to look only at the middle... but I think the whole picture tells the story (in this case).

Thanks for that shimmishim. That's a good point. I thought the vignetting really suited the series but I can see what you are getting at. My aim wasn't to draw the viewers eye straight to the guy in the middle ...

cheers,

#3 does it for me. I have a very soft spot for the military - of what ever nation - and #3 just about tore my heart out.

I would love to know the story behind the ribbons on the little girl's check in #5 - though I'm afraid of what I might learn.

All good (except No1, the OOF blobs distract)

No3 and 6 would look good with a B&W treatment.
