I have the basic kit lens 18-55mm Non IS and I see a guy selling a 18-55mmIS for $99 here locally. He said he never used it since he purchased the 17-55 lens. Should I get it? Is $99 a good price for it without a warranty?

shouldnt this be in the lens section?

and i would say keep the normal 18-55 and save that money on another lens. for 100 you can buy a 50 1.8 if you dont have it already

It's a good lens, I dont really know the prices but $99 seems cheap as lenses go.

I have a 40D which I bought about 12 months ago and I recently "long term borrowed" a 1000D from work, which came with the 18-55mm IS lens which I use quite often now on the 40D body.

I'm amazed by how sharp this lens is considering it's a kit lens; I prefere the IQ from this than I do my f/1.8 50mm.

This image was scaled down but had no sharpening applied to it:

I use one for real estate work, and it does well. Build quality is decent for a plastic lens. $99 for a clean copy is a great price. They're around $170, I think.

Check it out, if it looks good buy it. I bought it for my XTI and have not regretted it since.

They were $101 shipped on eBay (brand new) for a while. You can still pick them up for $119 or so online (new).
