Oct 14, 2010 11:25 | #2604 Chauncey, that's quite a dramatic conversion there! I think you turned a "plain flower shot" into a real printable piece -- way to go! Tony

Thanks Tony but...I think the Photoshop version is a better image https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=944756 I just can't make myself stop with LR. The things you do for yourself die with you, the things you do for others live forever.

Oct 14, 2010 14:37 | #2607 Chauncey, that Photoshop version certainly is very nice, interesting to compare the two, but I do like the LR version a lot -- drama! Don't stop the creative playing! Tony

Lightroom trickery: IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com/photos/joshwhelan/5081712745/ The final product:
This snap was grabbed as I tested out my new wireless flash trigger (540EZ low camera right 1/128 power, some tiny amount of window light filling from camera left). I had to be a bit heavy-handed with the editing as the 18-55 kit lens doesn't lend itself too easily to subtle post-production ![]() After making exposure/white balance/cropping adjustments the main edits I made were curves and clarity to make things pop a little. Backed off a little on the saturation/vibrance to counter the stronger effects of the tone curve. Finally used some brush adjustments on the eyes and added vignetting. That looks so bizarre. Because of that 'curb' in the foreground, it makes the subjects look about 6" tall....they also don't look part of the larger image..like they were dropped in it. Gear List: A Brownie. I call it a Brownie cuz it fell in the toilet.
