Linda, you are correct that Lightroom and other Raw processors do not have the sophisticated cloning tools that image editors have -- it goes beyond the scope of Raw processing.

Now, we do have "spot" cloning, which is especially useful for things like dust, but also can be used to remove some objects, especially if there is a smooth area that you can use to easily replace things with. We've seen some pretty cool examples of that.

But still, even us hard-core Raw processor users tend to have an image editor on hand. So, your idea of having a current version of Elements alongside of Lightroom is a very good idea that most of us go with. That way, you can happily go along doing most of what you need in Lightroom and then, on occasion if you have a challenge you can jump into Elements.

between the 2 you will be very happy. Lightroom is so easy compared to Photoshop but there is sometimes you just have to play lol. LR easily imports to PS

Heh! If you check out my title you will note that to a lot of people, anytime I type anything it tends to be long...winded:)!

You rock well....

:D Actually, I used to work for a (very) high-end audio shop, and one day, about a year ago, I get in to an argument with a familiar-looking guy about RIAA equalization curves (for vinyl). He had told me that his name was Mike, it was only on his way out that he told me that his last name was Diamond. (As far as the argument, I was right, by the way.)

Bill is my name - I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.

OK, here is another Aperture 3 conversion....this time getting the skin tones correct for a baby, which is not easy.

Straight out of the camera:

Final version:

And the Aperture 3 settings - the important parts are turning down the saturation slightly and adjusting the reds:

Hey "drewster", I think that came out pretty good! Brought some detail out in the foreground while keeping detail in those clouds and enhancing that blue sky -- that what it's all about!

That's pretty strong stuff, BK!

Now, I must sadly play my broken record, please read the intoductory post, in particular two things: please post either a screen shot of your settings or a detail list of your processing, and please post a "full POTN" size of at least your after image so that we can fully appreciate the good work you did!

And, thanks for your nice contribution!

Oops, well let me add that info and the final image. Not much method to what was done. New to shooting raw and am amazed at what can be recovered.

Well, thanks for posting the good stuff, and welcome to the thread and the fun of shooting and processing in Raw! It's a learning and growing creative process -- and a few years from now you be able to look back on your early efforts and be ready to jump back in with new stuff you've learned and all those orinal Raw files will be as fresh as ever!
