xarik: THANKS for the suggestion! I will try it. They are done in RAW, I just meant I converted them to .jpg to put on my hosting site for this thread!! Sorry I wasn't clear. And you answered a question I have been pondering about noise vs sharpening. Another piece of the puzzle.

Here's another conversion, the rest of the set has some better images but I accidentally deleted all of the RAW files (or something went wrong) and so I wanted to visit a new photo rather than re-editing one I've already done. Please check out my flickr to see the others :)
Before:

These adjustments are not listed:
Highlights -7
Lights -7
Medium contrast
Saturation is Red+27 Orange+11 Yellow+22
Lens correction was left alone with the automatic setting for the lens
Sharpening +43
Noise reduction +10

Sorry for the wait. My setup is kinda butchered while on det in Misawa, and the internet connection is awful.
Not shown here is one graduated filter to take the sky down a stop.
If the list is collapsed, there were no edits in that list.

Wow, Bobby, thanks! I gather this is the "After"? You're planning on putting up the "Before"?

I don't know the military terminology -- you're in the Navy, and in Japan, or...?

Anyway, thanks for your contribution and your service!

Ah, got it!

Bobby, in your "spare" time, you could help us out by editing/putting the two posts together, Before, After and edits all in one!

Again, thanks!

Joey, that's certainly an interesting image, but if you read the thread intro you will note that this thread is for Raw Processing only, and as such NO "PHOTOSHOPPING" is allowed!

So, look at that, and take some time to see what we are doing here, and feel free to replace your post with a Raw processing contribution!

Thanks!

Sorry about that. I didn't really read the instructions lol. My previous post has been deleted.
