My 401K is down over 60% from a year ago and yet the L lenses I bought are still worth 80 to 90% of what I paid. Sweet justification! Plus they made me money (just not as much as I paid for them!)

That's just another reason to buy Canon lenses. The IQ and they hold there value.

The lenses I bought earlier this year actually increase their value by 10-30%, beat that:cool:

You must be an aggressive, capital appreciation-seeking youngster. At my age,I'm more interested in in capital preservation, but I still lost more than 15% last year.

I told my 32 year old son that I still have all of my money, but I lost his inheritance. I couldn't tell if he was amused or not.:lol:

Hello Rick Anderson,
Is the 401K an old Canon FD model or is it a new EOS please??
Regards.
Jim.

Wow, you got hosed. I'm just checked mine and I'm only down 19% and I run a pretty aggressive portfolio.

Over the past 12. I was down around 35% at the worst but the last 6 weeks have really dragged it back up.

Hello Rick Anderson,
I can agree with you regarding computers or lenses. I finally found the 401K you were talking about. The value of the Zenith PC 401K will depreciate while your L lenses will remain relatively stable.
Regards.
Jim.

My Canon 500/4 has gone up over $2000 in the last year. It sure hasn't depreciated this much so it's made money!

I'll tell you the same thing I told my brother about baseball cards. It's only worth money if you sell it.

Ditto. I bought a nice chunk of gear back when the live.com cashback was at 30%+. Put them way below market value. :)
