Hey People of POTN, Just recieved my RRS BH-55 Ballhead yesterday and im wondering if this is normal with the Drag knob, when I turn it towards 0 I can still turn it till between 8-7 and when I turn it right around to 9 it goes past till between 0-1, Hopfully you guys will understand what I mean.

Cheers
Will.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I will say the drag knob is the weak spot of this ballhead. It controls the drag poorly, and at least on mine, the numbers are very hard to see. It seems that it must be turned very tight for the drag to hold a heavy lens.

yeah thats what I find, What I mean is you think 9 is the tightest but my knob will keep turnin till 2 lol not a big deal Because I wont use the drag much just wondering if it was normal.

I don't even use my drag knob, I leave it as loose as possible. If I let go of my setup I make sure the main knob is cranked down. Don't wanna take a chance of all that weight flopping forward....Jeff

I have the BH-40, but the drag knob is the same concept as the BH-55. The way I understand it is you need to crank down the drag knob until you get the right tension for your setup. That might mean turning the knob several times past 9. Once you find the tension you like then you use the numbers to remember what that setting is.

At least that's the way I do it for my ballhead. :P
