Hi All

I picked up my new lens today 135L f2, and I must say I'm blown away. Beautiful DOF, I think the bokeh looks pretty creamy, took a couple at the coffee shop across the road from the camera shop as I just couldn't wait to get it on the camera. What do you think?

It's soooo sharp! Gah, I hate coming to these forums. I'm going broke from looking at these wonderful pictures and talking about these fantastic, super expensive equipment!

I wonder how it compares to the 70-200 F2.8L IS? I'm still deciding on which lens to get for my first L.

SHARRRP!!

BTW I think a candid portrait is a contradiction in terms.

Portraits usually have people looking at your lens (ie aware of the photographic process) where as candids are... unaware and not looking at the camera/lens...

Not sure exactly though...

I guess it is open to intepretation, as is "what is art". A portrait as I understand it, is a representation (portrayal) of a person, candid could be considered informal, not posed, combine the two and you have candid portraiture.

Cheers
Darren

Nahhhhh......candids are just taken in the moment. Portraits are planned and often staged.Plenty of portait shots are not looking into the camera.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer.

OK so I agree.

It is indeed a magical lens in the same league of the 85L.
