http://cgi.ebay.com …%3A0%7C293%3A2%7C294%3A50 (external link)

It states at the bottom of the auction:
This item is ALL BRAND NEW and in the original factory box and packing.
Cameta Camera is an authorized Canon USA dealer.
Canon USA supplies a full one-year warranty on the Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

Seems legit. Thoughts?

I think Cameta is a reputable dealer, I bought my first DSLR from them many moons ago. :)

Best Buy for me means sales tax (9%), so total price $2942..minus 10% Best Buy coupon would be $2648..not sure how the rewards work? - if it's another 3% off, then end price = $2,569

ebay = cashback for $200 off price and no tax. with price above of $2,599, that gets it to me for $2,399.

I'll go Ebay with the above seller :-)

Wow, if you go through Live.com, it looks like you can get $200 cash back on that auction you linked to. Nice deal!

I bought my 5D2 from Cameta via Ebay for $2579 - $200 cash back. The camera arrived without problems (and with a USA warrantee) and the $200 is pending in my live.com account. I'd consider them a reliable vendor.

Cameta is a pretty well known and reputable retailer so you will be fine.

Yep, I've purchased from Cameta with no issues. They're a little abrupt on the phone, but not bad.

Just so you know, if you call the Canon service center in NJ, they will tell you that ANY transaction on ebay (even if it is from an authorized dealer) will not have a valid warranty. Canon will refuse to honor warranties on ebay transactions. I spoke to several people at NJ Service Center including some of the higher ups. They all said the same thing...if you bought it on ebay, no warranty. Despite my argument that ebay is just a sales platfrom only, they were not willing to change that stance.

So do contact the seller ahead of time, and verify that they will be willing to give you a receipt that does not mention ebay. I was successful in getting a couple of vendors to cooperate and issue receipts that did not mention ebay at all.

According to Canon's position, all those authorized dealers selling on ebay claiming warranty, are making false claims.

What?? How can they do that? What difference does it make if I order from XXX's Ebay store or XXX's website or XXX's actual store?

Same question I had. But decided that I don't want to argue with them when it comes time to utilize the warranty. So I got the vendor to give me a regular store receipt.

Do give Canon Service Center a call. See what they say. But given the responses I was given, even if some random person says they will honor it, I'd rather not take my chances.

I went through Live.com and got myself a 5D MKII with $200 cashback.
Cameta is in NY, and I didn't want to pay tax. So I bought it from Norman Camera.
