Title says it all. I have absolutely no idea what the point of them is, other than the "Open Buddy List" thing in the Quick Links. Is that it?

I add certain friends to mine to see if they are online or not. Then when you open it you can see at a glance.

You can set it up to get notifications of new posts or threads made by other members, keep track of members you know etc.

It's great for PMing people on your list (for whatever reason, never used it myself).

I use it to keep track of friends' posts that I want to read or view if they have new photos up. Freddcyr :o for example
