I'm sorry that I posted this. These guys are obviously a rip off. Maybe someone does know of a reputable dealer with a good price, however.

Adorama is selling refurbished 40D cameras for $749 with free shipping. I have bought both my 30D and 40D cameras as refurbs and have been very happy with them. I absolutely love the 40D.

I just noticed today while looking at prices at B&H that they are showing the 40D as being discontinued and that they do not have any in stock. Model life of cameras seems to be measured in weeks these days rather than years. ;)

As far as reputable dealerships go, I highly recommend B&H. They have a sterling reputation. I have heard that Adorama is also good, but I have no experience with them.

Don Powell, what did you find out that you say photoconnection was a ripoff, for the benefit of others here who may have the same question at some point?

As usual, I steer away from places that sell much below the going rate. Adorama or B&H have great reputations and customer service. I have used both with no problems as well. Even Adorama has a rep that visits the board here to read and respond to user feedback. Worth the extra penny.

I got mine for $749 after I sold my Kit lens. $1,049 on Amazon when I bought a couple of months ago.

EDIT: I just checked Amazon and it looks like the 40D Kit has gone up in price. $1,282 is the lowest, and all from resellers. The 50D Kit is cheaper at $1,252.

I got my 40D kit @ Best Buy at the beginning of March for $999. Not sure if they have any left or not.

I like this seller, I've bought a few refurbs from them and
had good luck... They are $689 with free shipping or
$724 for one with a 3 year mack. but... the key is to
use the live.com discount and get another 8% off.

I want to thank all of you for your input. I did see that Resellers.com had positive reviews, however later I made other Google searches and found the horror stories.
I should have known better, no excuses!
