I placed an order at really right stuff today for a BH 55 and a plate. Anyone able to give me an idea of when this might ship? I've heard horror stories about how slow they used to be, sometimes taking up to six weeks.......

SURELY it won't be that long.

Thanks!

I ordered internationally and it took less than a week. I'd hope you got the same or quicker ;)

I love their shipping discipline. I usually receive items in less than five days.

I recently ordered an L-plate and lever-clamp. RRS shipped either same-day or next-day. The real issue is with UPS and the shipping method you select. I chose ground and it took maybe 7 business days (they are in CA, I am in MD). Fine for me because I was in no hurry.

For last two orders, RRS shipped the same day or the next day. Unless, the items are out of stock, I would expect next business day shipment.

RRS will ship within a day unless the item is on back-order, in which case they will let you know.

For typical items that they sell a lot of (ballheads, clamps, etc), they're usually a stock item and ship quickly, unless you catch them at a time of very high demand. Out of stock items could take weeks. I once received a lever clamp in a matter of days, the next lever clamp took about three weeks (problems with their machine shop). One complaint about their website is that they don't identify an item as in or out of stock. But all in all, a great company to do business with. They might be a little more expensive than most, but their quality and customer service is top-notch.

This was my situation too. I live in Connecticut and usually select the cheapest (read: slowest) ship method. 7 business days is about the average for arrival to me using this method.

I got my BH55, shipped to Florida via conventional shipping (cheap), in under a week.

I usually get my stuff from them in 24 to 48 hours, but then I'm only 300 miles from them.
