Man - in one way I'm glad, but in other ways, I'm not!
I'm considering swapping my 120-300 f2.8 out for the 300f4 IS, 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8 but most everything is out of stock!!
I wonder if Canon is just 'creating' the supply vs. demand economics situation...
Perhaps it's a sign...

According to the owners of the store I was buying Canon gear from, no they simply don't have the inventory. In the 'old' days pros could request orders for lenses they absolutely needed for jobs, now it doesn't matter because there isn't any stock.

That's what I was told.

(however I don't care anymore what Canon does with it's inventory... ;) )

Nikon used to be the one with everything out of stock, but times have changed, and Nikon stock is pretty plentiful, and Canon stuff is hard to find. I would love to know what's going on with Canon - there has to be a reason for this.

While Nikon does appear to have lots of stock in stores, apparently they also are not really shipping much, it's just they have a larger base left.

Again this is what I've been told, this is why I'm buying my lenses now, because it could happen as well that you won't be able to find Nikon pro lenses soon.

Large inventory means supply is higher than demand. No inventory means demand is higher than supply. It really is that simple, unless you're talking about stuff for which there is absolutely no demand, and that would not apply here.

300 f/4L IS in stock at B&H and Adorama
85 f/1.8 in stock at Adorama
50 f/1.4 in stock at Amazon (Cameta Camera)
