The question i have is how to i format this Internal drive since it is an OEM version of the WD 1 TB drive.

Thanks

On Windows probably NTFS. On a Mac HFS+ (Extended) with journaling.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

On Windows definitely NTFS. FAT32 has a limit that I can't recall offhand.

Found it... it's around 128GB.

Thanks for the answers. Can i put it into the docking station and format it that way via the docking USB port.
The reason why I am asking is that my friend said that the thing can only be formated if directly connected to the Motherboard

I plugged in to the docking station but in my computer screen , nothing poped up. I guess the computer could not read it since it is not formated ( internal drive) . Any idea how I could format this drive?

It's a Vatican problem..... (Sorry, couldn't resist)

Bring up explorer (Wndows+E key) and see if you can find the drive.
If not you can check thru the computer management via the control panel.

Hi Titus,

I have a new vista ultimate.
I did not see it in the computer icon.
I went to device manager and did find it there, but what do I do to format it?

I don't think there is explorer in Vista ultimate.

Thanks for helping out

Dennis

Go to Computer Management in the Control Panel (it may be in Administrative Tools; not in front of Vista at the moment).

In there you will see a Disk Management section.

If you look at the bottom half it will list your disks with a graphical display of how they are formatted. One disk should completely be Unallocated Space. Right-click on that one and click Format in the menu that pops up.

Should be similar, as in principle Vista uses the same snap-ins.
