Three more from today. Again nothing special, but maybe I haven't lost it alltogether. :p

I saw a nice Kestrel pic on here and thought I should go check on my favorite kestrel spot. Only spotted one. Got a shot of it

and one of a meadowlark actually in a meadow

and of course I did not get the shot of the nemesis bird.

Thanks Fishhawk!

Certainly not the best shot, not totally clear and the branch is a bit in the way, but perhaps passable.

Love the meadowlark. And hey... I haven't even seen a kingfisher, much less gotten a smidgeon of one in an image.

I'd be happy with any of these Kenny.....I've never seen a meadowlark, and have only gotten a backside view of kestrals and kingfishers as they fly in the opposite direction.

They are evil, pure evil. I'm sure you'll get one. The main way I even know they are there is the call....it's this kak-a-kak-a-kak. Otherwise I'd probably never see one.

Shar, I certainly get a lot of those myself, there was even a thread of "I'm outta here" shots a while back.

Thanks!

Thanks Frank, I'm sure you'll get it. They are so small and pretty skittish around here, but I've found a couple of places where they seem to hang out.

Been a couple years since I saw a Kestrel here. Maybe I saw a Kingfisher last year, can't remember. And never saw a Meadowlark here, or anywhere since I was a kid. :)

Hey Mitch, I'd think, but haven't checked the maps, there'd be meadowlarks in your area.

I'm sure there are, but I live down in the Mississippi River valley. It's like a whole other eco system than the plains and prairies above. I have noticed we are also short of Hawks I am use to in more open land. What we do have are all the little birds, eagles, ducks and other water birds like egrets and herons. It's a tradeoff I guess. I could drive up onto the bluffs I guess, and do occassionally, but for the price of gas these days, I have cut way back on just driving around mindlessly. :)

I know what you mean. I tend to frequent the near-by wetlands...
