Canon 580 ex II Question

Hi guys I now have the 430ex and I am thinking of getting the 580ex II I want to use the 580 ex For a Master and the 430ex as a slave My question is what other advantages does the 580 offer over the 430 Thanks,

Power. Refresh time. Ability to control other E-TTL flashes. Those are the biggies that I can think of of the top of my head.

When 580EX II is used off camera, and it's connected to the camera by its sync port and PC cable. Will the 580 still retain the ETTL capability just as it's mounted on camera hotshoe?

Not with a PC cord.
A PC cord has two conductors and is nothing more than a means to close a circuit.
