Right, got myself a TT1 transmitter to use with my current collection of multimaxes and PWII.

I'm not interested in the wireless ETTL , i just want to use hypersync but I have run into a brick wall.

With the TT1 transmitter, I cannot get it to transmit a signal when i have my camera shutter speed set above 1/320. My old PWII and multimax do it fine and this should work. It even shows it working on the product page on the pocketwizard website at 1/500 but it just doesnt seem to work.

There must be a really simple reason for this, surely I am doing something wrong. I have tried 2 cameras, 1dMKIIN and 5DMKII and neither of them work.

Any ideas?

Have you tried updating the firmware? You may want to download the software, plug the unit in via USB and see if there are any settings disabled. You also might want to try C2 instead of C1 (not sure if you did this or not)

Yes i have updated to the latest firmware and tried c1, c2 and adjusted pretty much every combination of settings i can think of. It just doesnt make sense in any way, i'm thinking maybe its a bug in the new firmware but its such a fundamental one i cant see how it would have got through.

I have used them on both a 1 series body and 5dmkii well above 1/320 with no issues. what happens if you put a flash in the shoe and don't try to trigger a plus or multimax?

if i put a flash in the shoe it auto sets the shutter speed to 1/250 which is kinda what i would expect. Same as if you put a flash in the shoe normally.

Do you think you could look in your setting on the PW utility , there is a setting in the sync menu that says "High speed sync begins at.." and it has a drop down box of options. Can you tell me what you have yours set to?

Ahaaa i seem to have found the problem!!

In the new software there is a checkbox for Highspeed sync disable mode.

If i check the box and disable highspeed sync i no longer have any trouble. Quite why I wouldneed to check that box is a bit of a mystery though...

Why would LPA designs suddenly require you to manually check a box to continue to using it in the way it is designed?

Can you have a look and see if you have that same box checked in your software Mike?
