I know dust gets inside this lens due to the fact that it's a cheap build, as it's the Mark II. From looking at it, it's obvious that dust enters from 2 locations.
1. The mount end
2. The front.
The front being the part where the lens extends when it focuses. Between the lens itself and the focus ring.
Seeing dust isn't very pleasing. I know for a fact that it doesn't affect image quality unless there's a serious dust problem, so don't start telling me that it doesn't affect anything.
It just annoys me to see there's dust in there. I rarely use this lens since i got a 70-200.
This lens is not even 1 month old. I've taken care on where I put it and how store it so it's away from dust.
I've taken a Canon 50 F/1.8 apart before due to dust... Breaking the clips that hold the lens elements together, then shortly finding another disassembly guide that tells you the proper way of doing it instead of a guide that TELLS you to break the clips.
Got it used for $80.
Best $80 I've ever spent eh?
I'm not taking my new one apart.
FML Indeed.
Question is, would canon clean it under warranty if I sent it in?
How about would I contact them?
I've looked before but haven't found anything. Canon Mississauga is the closest to Toronto, but still pretty far.
Take a look. Annoying right?
Yeah. I know. Or maybe it's just me..
