I think it must be free within warranty (in Hong Kong they're only interested in seeing your receipt, not the warranty card. Couldn't hurt to test it out though. I thought my 200 2.8L was sharp (and it was, it was the sharpest lens I have). Then I tried calibrating the AF. It got even sharper.
