I think I want to go to the Peak to get some wide angle long exposure shots on a clear night. Maybe even play around with my fisheye. Could be kind of fun.

The peak is cool and all, but there has to be 100,000,000,000 shots taken up there over the years.

Still, it's a good place to get a shot.

True, but some people don't like to shoot at places where everyone goes like a friend of mine does.

The peak is a place where you can just buy a postcard and you'll "get the shot" LOL. No need to actually go up there.

Maybe it's just me but I just like the sense of accomplishment that I took the shot instead of buying a postcard. Plus, photos are somewhat like a signature. Everyone approach and outcome will be slightly different. At least for me, that's enough of a reason to give it a go.

True. But there's varying levels of camera saturation. ;) I've been in a private boat off the outlying islands... not many cameras out there. :)

The third one is a nice concept but I kind of wish the lighting wasn't so hard. What was your lighting setup Marco?

Btw, I'm not a landscape photographer (mainly shoot people and actions sports) but I'm attending this seminar by Edward Stokes (supposed famous HK landscape photographer) on Wednesday night. Admission is like $10 donation. Not sure if you guys have to join the group to see this but I thought it might be kind of fun:

yeah the light there is a bit hard , but then also this was also just a quick edit, need to retouch her skin a bit, clone out umbrella reflections etc.

BTW the bottle gives away any light setup, 1 single umbrella and a large reflector. on the motorbike we had a 2 light setup with reflector

I wish I could go, but have to work!

mmm... 4 days without activity. What's new? How about talking about how your username come from?

Well, I finally got around to browse my photos. I was looking through my practice shots with the 580EX II. Sometimes I just find little things to shoot when I don't feel like to go outside. The photo below is an example.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/madbikes/IMG_8743.jpg

This was taken the night before I head back. Looking through my late childhood "treasures" has always been one of the highlights whenever I return for vacation. Believe it or not, taking this sort of photo is related to my username.

One day about 10 years ago, I would like to take some shots of my "treasures". I knew nothing about photography back then. I took a few random shot once with a P&S film camera and turned out ok, so I thought using a SLR would give me much better results. I kindly asked my dad to lend me his EOS 5/A2 (mated with a Sigma 28-105 f/2.8-4, it's now garbage as the AF mechanism is busted), which he gave it to me not long ago, to do the same. The excitement rushed to me as I insert a roll of 36-exposure film and start shooting. The end result: it pretty much didn't work. The shots came out either blurry or completely white. Now I do know why it didn't work at all, but the only thing I was taught is "just use Manual and make sure the exposure meter is at 0". The funny thing is I got away with it sometimes except when using auto mode.

Those photos may be boring, but sometimes a good one can be a great wallpaper like this.

It has been my wallpaper the longest since I discover I can make photos as wallpaper from the body (only when the photo is in JPG). This photo sometimes reminds me the 450D and the 18-55 IS kit lens is pretty capable of nice shots.
